Thai cuisine is an exciting blend of flavors, textures, and contrasts. We can all agree on that! However, if you’re craving a flaky croissant, a decadent cheesecake, or any pastry that reminds you of home, Phuket has a lot to offer. What we love about the bakeries in Phuket is that they’re usually not just bakeries. If you’re heading from your luxury rental to one on our list, you’ll also find other tasty treats, like juicy burgers and avocado sandwiches.
Lucky 13 Sandwich
Lucky 13 Sandwich in Patong is a staple for sandwich lovers. All sandwiches are made with love, and they don’t taste like commercially-made bread at all. If you want naturally-leavened bread without additives, flavorings, and other nasties, then this is a great place to drop by and grab a quick bite. The drinks taste equally good, too! If you want a nice cup of coffee to go with your sandwiches, then you’ve come to the right place. If you want bread-to-go, you can choose from muffins, paninis, ciabatta, and whole loaves. You’ll be spoilt for choice. The bakery’s roast beef and avocado sandwich is deliciously filling. Don’t forget to try their fruit sodas! The passionfruit one is refreshing, particularly on a hot and humid day.
Bake Bakery Phuket
If you’re looking for a French patisserie that also serves hearty meals and delicious coffee, then you have to check out Bake in Central Patong. What’s great about Bake is that it’s a great place to go to if you’re eating out with a small group. They’ve got Thai dishes on their menu, as well as burgers, salads, and sandwiches. Of course, people also come here to get something sweet while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.
Bake’s roast chicken and pizza are just heavenly! Not to mention, the bakery also offers gluten-free fare for those who need it. There’s something for everyone here and if you’re bringing family or just want to eat somewhere with a good vibe, we highly recommend Bake.
If you’re craving Huevos Rancheros, head to Napoleon Bakery in Thalang. A lot of people go to Napoleon Bakery for the flaky croissants, open-faced sandwiches, and Mexican brunches. If you see someone ordering a spicy Bloody Mary, you might just forget what you’re there for, which is their sourdough bread. You go there for the amazing crusty bread that’s lovingly made by their head baker. It’s made with a starter and rye – no shortcuts. While you’re there, don’t forget to add orange juice to your order. They use different kinds of oranges to get deliciously refreshing juice that goes perfectly with everything on their menu.
This is technically not a bakery, but if you’re ever in Layan Beach looking for a cool place with great bread, then walk, no, run to Project Artisan! There’s cool music, a spa, a varied menu, and even gluten-free bread if you order in advance. They have a lush garden, a wide-open space, and nice seating areas. This place is recommended if you have kids with you. It’s a family-friendly space but also has music, booze, and a fantastic menu. Go here if you’re looking for a delicious quick bite, but mostly if you’re looking for a good place to hang out. We recommend their ciabatta sliders, truffle pizza, and their gorgeously “unhealthy” (their words, not ours!) burgers and sausages.
Brown Cafe Bake & Blend
Brown Cafe Bake & Blend, in Muang District of Phuket, is mostly a cafe that serves light meals. What we love about Brown Cafe is that they offer deliciously artisan desserts that are sure to be Instagram-worthy. A lot of the desserts are too pretty to eat and too yummy to not savor! Not to mention, their drinks are just plain delicious. If you’re looking for fancy pastries, head to Brown!
Macchiato House & Cakebox
Situated on Thalang Road in the heart of the Old Phuket Town, Macchiato House, and CakeBox makes a great spot for the perfect pairing of coffee and freshly baked goods. The cafe boasts a wonderful menu with delicious cakes and baking recipes, which come straight from the kitchen next door. Unfortunately, Macchiato House and CakeBox are closing soon. If you have not tried their delightful offerings, now is your chance!
Lafayette French Bakery
Located on the Kamala main road, this cafe-cum-bakery has slowly become the go-to spot in the village for decadent pastries and real French baguettes. The elegant yet casual atmosphere is perfect for a long lunch with friends, one that involves tempting each other into ordering just one more (to share of course). The dine-in and takeaway bakery items and traditionally crafted bread, as well as their buttery and fluffy croissants, are all divine!
There are so many tempting bakeries dotting Phuket. If you’re craving something sweet or savory, you can be sure to find it exactly as you like it here. Did we miss your favorite bakeries? Let us know and we’ll add them to our list!
